Conveyors in Burgersfort

Burgersfort and the nearby Steelpoort valley lie on the eastern limb of the Bushveld Complex, one of the richest chrome and platinum belts in the world. Opencast and underground mines supply chromite and PGM ore to crushing plants, concentrators and ferrochrome smelters, and conveyors link shafts, stockpiles and process plants. Chrome ore is hard, heavy and abrasive, so belt covers, impact beds and skirting wear quickly, and the dust and heat of the lowveld add to the load. The town has a growing base of engineering workshops and contractors, while larger belting orders and steel-cord work are often supplied from Polokwane or the Gauteng centres.

Typical conveyor belt hire requests in the area come from:

Platinum and chrome mines: short-term cover for feed conveyors and stockpile building during repairs and projects
Open-pit iron ore, manganese and diamond mines: hired stacking and feed conveyors for contract crushing and short-term ore moves
Cement, steel and process plants: temporary conveyors for shutdowns, clean-ups and contract material moves
Quarries and sand mines: mobile radial stackers and feed conveyors for contract crushing and stockpile building
Warehouses and distribution centres: telescopic and portable conveyors for container and truck loading at peak times
